Cannes – Continuing to rise to fame domestically and internationally, Thai actor Ananda Everingham recently starred in Pen-ek Ratanaruang’s short film Twelve Twenty (which screened at the 2006 Jeonju International Film Festival in South Korea from April 27 to May 5). Now he was cast in Singapore director Jean Yeo’s romantic comedy February 29 opposite Singaporean actress Li Lin.

Adapted from Dr. Catherine Lim’s famous novel Leap of Love, February 29 involves Li Lin’s search for true love by meeting a man on February 29, which of course happens once every four years.

February 29 follows British romantic comedy formula of a funny twist of faith in the search for true love.

The film has finished filming without any Thai press coverage. I did not know about this movie if I had not happened to spot the promotional image and noticed the actor’s uncanny resemblance of Ananda Everingham. After inquiring, it was really him. Standing at 110 minutes long with Mandarin and English dialogues, February 29 will be in theatrical release this year.
