Thanks to Christophe Bardel and Emmanuelle Morin, the French couple in Nice, who always give me a kind help for my Cannes coverage since 1995. While my editor was against the Festival as 'too luxury' and I was too arrogant to seek the help from film people, this couple was sent from the heaven in the midst of my despair. Without them and the Cannes start, I would have never come to this far. The couple now has one pretty 5-year-old girl Lola and handsome 3-year-old boy Louise. I wish all of the best things for this family. They made me know what it means by the word 'angel hearts'!
This years Cannes starts a little later in May than usual, so I am trying to trouble my friends a little less by traveling out of town on weekends. Not knowing where to go, I decided to come to Cannes to witness the city in its regular activities. But, guess what? The town is already in full gear preparing for the festival and well decorated with cut-out posters and billboards, as you will see in my photo.
The Thai contingent will start arriving on the 16th, one day before the Festival starts. Gmm Tai Hub, Sahamongkol Film Production, MonoFilm, and Fivestar Production have confirmed participations in the film market. Moreover, the Tourism Authority of Thailand with supports from the Ministry of Culture and Thai Film Foundation will organize a Thai film party on May 19.
More reports to come, but now please enjoy the pre-opening photo from Cannes !
